Original Berber carpet, hand-knotted around 1970 in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains.
In Amazigh culture, the zigzag pattern represents the path of life — with ups, downs and growth. Complemented by the ancient symbol of the tree of life, “ZigZag Spirit” represents change, wisdom and inner strength.
“ZigZag Spirit” has its full effect in spaces that promote peace, clarity and creative depth — such as meditation and yoga rooms, retreats or studio areas.
Its dense structure and warm deep pile not only create traction, but also a sense of security — ideal for environments that are intended to center and inspire.
We deliver worldwide — free of charge. Each rug is shipped safely and insured from our warehouse in Austria. Depending on the region, the delivery time is approx. 2 to 14 working days. Customs duties may apply outside the EU and are to be borne by the recipient.
The zigzag pattern of ZigZag Spirit symbolizes the journey of life — with all its ups, downs, detours and insights. It does not symbolize chaos, but transformation: a powerful sign for people who are consciously going their own way. The interwoven symbols of the tree of life have a particularly strong effect — they connect earth and sky, origin and future, and in the Amazigh culture stand for growth, fertility and spiritual maturation.
The spiritual number 9 — the number of completion, altruism, and inner wisdom. ZigZag Spirit thus becomes a carrier of silent but profound energy.
ZigZag Spirit was hand-knotted in the Middle Atlas by women of the Amazigh people in the late 1970s — on a traditional Beni Ourain vertical loom. ZigZag Spirit consists of 100% natural sheep wool, undyed and untreated. The tight weave creates a soft, warm pile with noticeable depth, lively structure and irregular surface.
The asymmetrical zigzag pattern is characteristic, complemented by fine details such as a small red dot — a deliberately woven symbol of protection.
Nomades7 is more than a brand — it is a curated collection of individual textile pieces with origin, attitude and soul. Each rug is made entirely by hand by Berber women in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains. Alexander Heritsch selects these pieces locally — not based on their appearance, but on the basis of energy, symbolism and history. We believe that spaces need more than beautiful things — they need meaning. That's why we don't sell mass-produced goods, but woven time. Each piece is unique that not only lies — but also works.
And that a hand-knotted rug doesn't just lie — it stays.
